Meet Heather Welcome to Heather’s Garden Friends, where I share my lifelong passion for nature, gardening, and creativity. For over 30 years, I’ve cultivated a wide variety of flowers, and nearly a decade ago, I fell in love with rose gardening. It’s been a significant part of my journey ever since. My mission is to help busy women, like you, reconnect with nature and find peace through mindful gardening and creative, nature-inspired art.My Gardening JourneyLiving on 26 beautiful acres south of Atlanta, GA, in USDA zone 8A, I’ve spent years creating and nurturing enchanting gardens. My rose garden, which I’m expanding by nearly 2,000 square feet in 2025, will focus on shade roses and native Georgia plants. I currently care for 23 roses, alongside various companion plants, and maintain seven raised beds brimming with annual and perennial flowers.Nature and CreativityBeyond gardening, I find endless inspiration in nature for my creative projects. I express this through handcrafted resin fairy garden figures, pressed flower picture frames, and seasonal fairy wall art—each piece a reflection of the beauty and magic I see in my gardens. Our Woodland HavenOur property is a sanctuary not just for me but for the wildlife and plants that thrive here. The forest is home to two majestic white oaks and a nearly 200-year-old mockernut hickory tree, with a serene creek flowing through the woods. This thriving ecosystem provides endless inspiration and nourishment for my soul. Birds, butterflies, and beneficial insects flock to my gardens, creating a lively environment that reminds me of the interconnectedness of all living things.Finding Peace in Nature: As a little girl, I would walk down a dirt road in Florida with my grandmother, hearing bobcats in the distance. Those walks taught me that nature is a sanctuary, a place where we coexist with other creatures and find peace in its stillness. This deep bond with nature has shaped my approach to gardening, transforming it into a practice of mindfulness, calm, and connection. In 2007, I experienced a profound shift when illness led me to discover mindfulness.Discovering Mindfulness Through Struggle: At my lowest point, I found solace in meditation, starting with just a one-minute practice. This small act brought immense calm to my life, and eventually, I began offering guided meditations to help others. Today, I incorporate that mindfulness into every aspect of my life and art, and I am passionate about helping others find the same peace and stillness through gardening and creativity. The Lessons of Gardening: Gardening has taught me the rhythm of life—there are seasons of growth and seasons of rest. Not everything goes as planned, and that’s okay. Like nature, we must adapt. Through my workshops, blog, and products, I aim to share this lesson of flexibility, patience, and compassion with others. The Purpose of Heather’s Garden FriendsHeather’s Garden Friends is my way of sharing the peace and magic that gardening and nature have brought into my life.
